I only provide the link and discuss it briefly because in my former life I was an IP lawyer. But how about the cojones on these guys?

“We’re alleging restraint of trade, among other things,” said Colby Springer, one of three lawyers from the firm of Carr & Ferrell LLP representing Psystar, in a press conference held at the law firm’s Palo Alto, Calif. offices today. “We’re going to let the court decide.” 

Blogs have been buzzing with the new Vista campaign about to take off. Some interesting commentary  from my local weekly. 

Mobile Me is giving current subscribers another 60 days free. From Apple,

We have already made many improvements to MobileMe, but we still have many more to make. To recognize our users’ patience, we are giving every MobileMe subscriber as of today a free 60 day extension. This is in addition to the one month extension most subscribers have already received. We are working very hard to make MobileMe a great service we can all be proud of.  

I  presume this is in response to all the grumbling regarding the additional email outages that users experienced. However, even old-reliable-gmail users were stung last week. I am waiting for some positive reviews before I can place my firms calendaring data in Mobile Me. I am still testing address book and push, with the iPhone.

TUAW is giving away licenses to the author of randomly selected haiku entries. 

SnapShots gave a great look and feel to my blog. For those of you that don’t know, Snapshots allowed the reader to roll-over the link with their mouse and see a little “snapshot” of the site in the hyperlink. When they introduced an advertising model, I opted out. Not a big deal. Most things that are free, won’t stay that way. There are two things companies will do once things get rolling: charge for the product they have been giving away or introduce advertising. I believe this blog serves to reach mostly lawyers. That isn’t to say I object to advertising. Just that  I doubt we need the not-to-subtle-ham-fisted suggestions from SnapShots. So, no hard feelings SnapShots.

Esquire Mac has the inside scoop on Notebook 3. As many of you know, I am a really, really big fan of Notebook. I use Notebook as a case management system. Thus far, no complaints. I am looking forward to the forthcoming update.  

They have updated their browser plug-in.

Their is not a lot for the lawyer in the app store. Plenty of fun applications. Even some great time wasters. Still, I am not a user of Evernote or Omnifocus. If I was, I might be a bit more enthusiastic. As it stands, my only must-have apps for the iPhone are these two.

First, is recorder from Retronyms. Frankly, as simple as this app would be to create, I am hard-pressed to understand why the iPhone did not ship with a recorder. Simple app. Easy to use. Small price tag on this one.

I know, I have said it a dozen times, but let me say it again, Password1 is a brilliant developer. Having the ability to visit all my usual websites, including Westlaw, the Bank, my blog, is great. But being able to get signed in with a few clicks. Even better. And free? Yep. Free.

Well, that is it. I am sure there are other great things to add to the iPhone. For now, they are going to be a matter of taste and interest. I really like the Urban Spoon as a restaurant locator. The “remote” program is nice when I can’t find my itty-bitty white remote for the Apple TV. I have not used Shazam but others have said it is great. But for the law office, it is slim pickins.
