It is not the best laptop and it is not the best phone you could put in your pocket (unless you have big pockets). It is neither. But it does allow me to do things in court, at the office and on the road that would be far more difficult with an iPhone and less weight than lugging around a laptop.

There is nothing an iPad can do that either an iPhone or a laptop couldn't. But a laptop cannot be this small and an iPhone can't be this big. I suppose, in general, any Netbook type product is also a bust. It isn't as powerful as a laptop and it will never be as small as a smart phone.

But for me, it is about having the right tool for the job. This is just the right size for court, the road and client interviews.

okay, so it's a nicely sized screen, especially nice for calendar viewing. . . and . . .? I love my macbook and our imac at home, but so far have yet to read anything to convince me an ipad is a wise expenditure. understanding there's a bit more to it than this, but nicely sized calendars come free in the mail every year from businesses and nonprofits. what else? really, what else?
