Posted by: admin on October 9th, 2008The well known David J Bilinsky, of Thoughtful Legal Management, is documenting his travels of switching to Apple. Check out his first two posts on the subject here and here. His day three frustrations mirror my own. Good luck David. And welcome to the fold.
Lexis-Nexis Gripe
Posted by: admin on August 8th, 2008
I am actually a big Westlaw fan. The interface has always been a bit more Mac-like. Last week I signed up for a Lexis product and was welcomed on my first day to this message:
We’re sorry, but the [edit] is designed for use only on the IBM-compatible PC. It may not function properly on Macintosh. For assistance or more information, please contact your account executive.”
Really? You think you can fix that? Not really a great week for these guys anyway. Plenty of big names taking issue with the company. In any event, they seem to have turned the corner on some of the user interface issues. Look forward to signing in without using virtualization.
No Macs!

Oh the Bar. How I miss thinking about you day and night for weeks on end. Well, I had to borrow a PC when I took the test. Not much has changed. From the New York Times:
For Mac users with bad handwriting, there is no keyboarding option. The exam software is designed to run on Windows systems, and the New York board included this clause in its laptop policy, warning in capital letters: “We do not support Apple products in any form including Intel-based laptops running Boot Camp — no exceptions.”

The Debate Rages On
Posted by: admin on February 29th, 2008
The PC v. Mac debate continues in this post by the ABA that asks, What Kind of Lawyer Are You…Mac or PC? In a veiled effort to poke either camp with a stick, the ABA is hosting a comments section for folks to continue the debate that has been rekindled with their cover article.

A Switcher’s Story from Wired
Posted by: admin on February 25th, 2008Cult of Mac provided this post on switching to Mac. The post says that they will be making this a regular feature.
Also this morning, TUAW posted about this newer blog OSXhelp. If you are a new-comer, this blog will likely provide some insights. The key here is the tag-line for the blog: “Insanely simple tutorials for the first time Macintosh user.”
PC Expert Gives You Reasons to Switch
Posted by: admin on February 19th, 2008The joys of drilling down. So here you are at my blog, and I am telling you to go visit TUAW’s blog, so that you can see Chris Pirillo’s blog (of Tech TV Fame), where he provides 50 reasons to switch to a Mac. This is actually a very balanced article. Check it out here. My favorite part, his alternate titles for the article:
