Johnny Knoxville is a PC

The new spokesman for Vista is the guy from Jackass? The tyranny of comedic choices is so overwhelming, I am walking away.

The Debate Rages On

Posted by: admin on February 29th, 2008

The PC v. Mac debate continues in this post by the ABA that asks, What Kind of Lawyer Are You…Mac or PC? In a veiled effort to poke either camp with a stick, the ABA is hosting a comments section for folks to continue the debate that has been rekindled with their cover article.

A Switcher’s Story from Wired

Posted by: admin on February 25th, 2008

Cult of Mac provided this post on switching to Mac. The post says that they will be making this a regular feature.

Also this morning, TUAW posted about this newer blog OSXhelp. If you are a new-comer, this blog will likely provide some insights. The key here is the tag-line for the blog: “Insanely simple tutorials for the first time Macintosh user.”

PC Expert Gives You Reasons to Switch

Posted by: admin on February 19th, 2008

The joys of drilling down. So here you are at my blog, and I am telling you to go visit TUAW’s blog, so that you can see Chris Pirillo’s blog (of Tech TV Fame), where he provides 50 reasons to switch to a Mac. This is actually a very balanced article. Check it out here. My favorite part, his alternate titles for the article:

C:\DIE.EXE
50 Reasons Why I Left Bill for Steve
Losing My OS Religion
Windows Broke My Heart
Obama Says It’s Time to Change to the Mac

How to Switch to a Mac
The Wow Stops Now
Got Mac?
Once You Go Mac, You Never Go Back?

UPDATE: The folks at Inspired Solo are doing a whole week about switch to Mac. Cheryl wrote this great article about her experience switching.

I am still having fun with the new OS and seeing if I can make Bento do my bidding. In the meantime, enjoy the videos.

Where is the IT guy?

Posted by: admin on September 19th, 2007

Mark Bennett dropped me a line today, welcoming me to the the land of blogs and positing in the comments, “There are several other Mac-using criminal defense lawyers out there. I think it’s because criminal defense, done properly, is a creative endeavor.”

I agree with Mark and it is incredibly apropos statement. When I first moved into my new office, I mentioned to the IT person I would not need much help setting up or maintaining my computer, “I use a Mac.”
He cocked his head and said, “You are an attorney.”
“Yes?” I replied.
“I thought Mac’s were for creative-artsy-types.”
I didn’t have much of a response. “I guess so…lawyers like them also.”

Really, criminal defense is a creative endeavor. And frankly, I am a very creative criminal defense lawyer (not really “artsy” per se). I don’t know if it is the exact reason I chose a Mac. But it is pretty cool not to need any help from the IT guy.

Why do you use a Mac?

Posted by: admin on September 16th, 2007

I think enough ink has been spilt on the advantages of Mac over a PC. I am not here to make this blog about why one OS is better than another. Each has it’s own advantages and, frankly, PC has some truly incredible software that integrates many different programs under one software solution.

I use Apple computers as a criminal defense attorney because I like them. There is no smug superiority or holier-than-though rationale. I had a friend who used a Mac and I liked it better than the PC I had. Every computer comes with its own set of problems.
